True Disciples

According to Oscar Thompson in his book "Concentric Circles of Concerns", a true disciple has four characteristics: 1. a personal relationship with the teacher, 2. is under total authority of the teacher, 3. possesses and demonstrates the character of the teacher and 4. must be prepared to suffer for the teacher.

Evangelism

"Evangelism is primarily an act of passionate obedience rather than an intellectual pursuit."

Abba, Father

"Abba, Father! He who can say this, hath uttered better music than cherubim or seraphim can reach. There is heaven in the depth of that word-Father! There is all I can ask; all my necessities can demand; all my wishes can desire. I have all in all to all eternity when I can say, "Father." - Spurgeon

His Footprints

This came from my devotions with C.H. Spurgeon this morning, "Remember this, Christian, and let it comfort thee. However difficult and painful thy road, it is marked by the footsteps of thy Saviour; and even when thou reachest the dark valley of the shadow of death, and the deep waters of the swelling Jordan, thou wilt find his footprints there."

53 million Babies Aborted in America

God's view of the unborn has not changed. The Bible says in Exodus 21:22-23 "If men who are fighting hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman's husband demands and the court allows. (23) But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life."

Knowledge

In regards to the Scriptures, "Most of us already know far more than we'll ever do."

Ten Times Worse

I just heard a lady say on television that her current situation was like being in hell, but ten times worse because she was still alive.  She obviously does not understand the biblical concept of hell.

Diving Board

"Some preachers treat the Bible like a diving board.  They use it to jump in but they never come back to it." - Dr. Mark Tolbert (NOBTS)

Signs of the Times

Our children (not mine) are watching "Glee" and our president is reversing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell".  Go figure.

The Wall of Al Magog

Studying the book of Ezekiel.  Did you know that the Great Wall of China that was built during the Ming Dynasty in the 5th century BC (also called "the Wall of Al Magog" by the Arabs) was built to keep the Hunnic hoards (Russians) out of China?  Very interesting.
