War on Christianity (always has been)

First five stories on Yahoo News today: "If Jesus Never Existed, Religion May Be Fiction", "FFRF goes the hard way to attack Christianity", "Teen Worker Forced To Wear Homophobic Slur on Name Tag at Popular Taco Chain", "Stephen Hawking Says 'There Is No God,' Confirms He's An Atheist", "Denver area students walk out of school in protest".

Conclusion: if you do not believe that there is an all out attack on Christianity, you need to pull your head out of the sand.

Washington D.C. Teacher Asks Students to Compare Bush to Hitler for Assignment

Washington D.C. Teacher Asks Students to Compare Bush to Hitler for Assignment

"In the latest attempt to smear Republicans, a teacher in a Washington
D.C. school district asked her students to use a pre-made Venn diagram
to compare the nation’s 43rd president to one of the most notorious
political criminals of all time."

Sorry, but it's your fault if you're offended all the time - The Matt Walsh Blog

"I truly believe that we are the most whiney, sensitive, thin-skinned, easily offended society in the history of the world." Great blog!

The Real Sickness At The Heart Of American Culture

The Real Sickness At The Heart Of American Culture - John Hawkins - Page full

People don't like to talk about America's culture for the same reason
that a man who just had a heart attack doesn't want to discuss the
double bacon cheeseburger he's eating.

The Cross

I look at the cross upon Calvary,
And O what a wonder divine!
To think of the wealth it holds for me—
The riches of heaven are mine.

Ted Cruz leaves stage after pro-Israel comments draw boos

Ted Cruz leaves stage after pro-Israel comments draw boos

Sadly, this is the America that we are becoming.

Zechariah 2:8 "For thus saith the Lord of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye."

The Agape Box

2 Kings 12:9 "But Jehoiada the priest took a chest, and bored a hole in the lid of it, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one cometh into the house of the Lord: and the priests that kept the door put therein all the money that was brought into the house of the Lord."

First time in Scripture I've ever actually seen an example of an offering box. Of course, many churches today do not take up offerings, but use boxes like this. I guess it could be said that it is biblical. However, I still do not have a problem with offering plates being passed. Actually, I've come to prefer them. Not casting judgment, just preference.

The Sin of Pride

2 Samuel 24:10 "And David's heart smote him after that he had numbered the people. And David said unto the Lord, I have sinned greatly in that I have done: and now, I beseech thee, O Lord, take away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly."

The ordering of the census was a blatant act of pride. The king had previously relied on God to bring victory in battle, but David’s numbering of only the soldiers showed that he was focused on the nation’s military might instead.

Well, hopefully this will encourage our leaders to lock down the southern border.Nothing like a little fear to get the ball rolling.

Why God Doesn't Care if You're Happy

"The fact that many Christians live their lives based on the pursuit of
happiness–instead of cultivating the joy of the Lord in obedience to God
and through faith in the blood of Christ—is an indictment of the
shallow theology in our midst."

Evidence of God's Judgment on America?

"We have a president today who has not only fundamentally violated his
oath of office to uphold the U.S. Constitution but has also actually
acted against our nation and our national interests. These aren't
opinions; they are facts."

Obama's Presidency May Offer Evidence of God's Judgment on America, Says Apologist

Most Americans are simply too busy to see or care what is going on around them.

Rethinking Your Internet Pastor

"While your favorite Internet pastor may preach a great sermon, when it
comes to actually ministering to you in your time of need, your Internet
pastor won't be there."

FIRST-PERSON: Rethinking your Internet pastor -

Very good article. Too many today are replacing the internet with the fellowship that only comes through the local church.

Quote to Think About

Horace Bushnell, a Congregationalists pastor who lived 1802 - 1876 once said, "Nothing makes infidels more surely than the spinning, splitting, nerveless refinements of theology." I believe there is some merit in his sentiment. I also believe from his writings that he deserted the Christian faith.

There is something in us that wants to question authority of any kind. Unfortunately, it usually leads to more questions that answers many times.

It was Walt Whitman (1819-1892) who encouraged Americans to "re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book" and to "dismiss whatever insults your own soul."

Wow. That left the gate pretty much wide open.

Vengeance

‭Leviticus‬ ‭19‬:‭18
"You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the LORD."

Pastoral Termination

http://www.bpnews.net/43286/pastoral-termination-common-but-often-avoidable-experts-say
Interesting article that states that as many as four in ten pastors will be forced to leave a church -- either by firing or pressured resignation -- at least once during their ministry careers, according to researchers.

As I read it, my heart ached. Nobody knows what a pastor goes through. It's not even possible for them to imagine how lonely it can be for not only him, but also his family. I hope that you are praying for your pastor, and thinking many times over before you say something against him or his family. Yes, they make mistakes, and some of those mistakes may need to be addressed, but those mistakes need to be handled according to Matthew 18:15.

The Need for Repentance

Why would anybody repent of their sin if everybody around them is making an excuse for it?

Just think about how many families at least said that they believed what the Bible says on an issue until it hits a little closer to home. I mean, the Bible all of sudden takes on a different meaning just because a member of the family decides they don't want to believe it? I don't think so.

God does not change. The way He felt about sin yesterday is the same way that He feels about it today and will feel about it tomorrow.

Here's a Thought

I just heard a preacher say that to walk purposely in sin is to reject God. I agree with that statement even if it is only momentarily.

Confederacy of Fools
